*MINOR OC mention, he's really only there to transition from chapter to chapter. He's not secretly a ghost/vampire/ghoul if that's what anyone's worried about.*

"So you're in town with your bro?"

"Um, yeah."

"Here for anything special or just..."

"Our uh, Dad's one town over on business and we're just killing time 'till he's done."
Sam grinned, setting the few bags and many cans in her arms down on the counter.
This guy was so average, what could a few details hurt?

"Whoa, you didn't strike me as a drinker." He commented, checking the small collection of tall cans she had before her.
"I mean, it's totally cool. You just seem so textbook... -Um, not that that's not cool too." He added quickly.

She laughed again, more to herself, inwardly thankful for the reminder to get the I.D. out of her pocket. Handing it off to the clerk, she turned back to her new friend.
"It's mostly for my brother."

"Ah, an older woman that does beer runs."

Yet again, she laughed, this time directly to his joke.

The two exited the store, him- Alex, with the heavier bag tucked under his arm, grabbing the door open for her with his free hand.

"So..." He began, looking back to make sure they were distant enough. "How old are you really?"

Sam winced.
"That obvious, huh?"

Alex shook his head.
"No, I'm just that good." He teased.

"Well, good as you are, I can't just tell you everything."
She paused, turning on her heels to him in the parking lot, hand on a hip. She half smirked.
"Tell me about yourself, Alex."
'Yes. Perfect, Sammy. Velvety smooth.'
Ignoring the fact that her thoughts were seeming more and more 'Dean'-like, she watched as he stood to her parallel.
His movements were so predictable, relaxed, unbraced for any kind of attack.
So normal.

He licked his lips and took a breath.
"My name's Alex as you know. I'm a senior- in high school, not life." He smiled when she laughed. "I'm seventeen years old. ...My hobbies include camping and pleasant chance run-ins with cute girls."
He raised a brow, cautiously taking her hand.
"But I guess you already knew that too."

Forget normal, this guy was downright townie, the epitome of normal.
A camping townie, it practically oozed harmlessness.
Sam bit the edge of her lip.
"I guess I do."

"Well I guess we're all learning a little something. Eh, Sammy?"

She yanked her hand back, stowing it in one of the jacket's wide pockets.
Her eyes snapped shut in a hopeless breath.
"Dean..." She exhaled, still facing Alex, who only needed to glance between the two twice to grasp the situation.

Taking a few good steps back, he held up both hands.
"Dude, I-"

"Don't call me 'dude'." Dean spat.

"Look, I didn't mean anything."

"Good, then you won't mind getting lost."

"Dean." Sam growled.
But it was already too late.
Alex was on his way home, bidding her adieu with little more than a nervous wave.
'Every time.' she thought to herself, her surprised frame stiffening further.
"Every. Damn. Time." She groaned.
Again, I say Dean would be the super over protective type of brother is Sam was a girl.

Poor Samantha... no boys, ever.
Ghosts, yes.
Demons, oh sure.
But boys are a no-no.
